60 cent

I was in a candy store yesterday and guess what I found? Dutch Pocky! O_o I never knew it existed! And it was only 60 cent! I bought a package to see if it's any good! Just tried it out and it tastes the same! This is so much cheaper than buying a package at a con! They should sell them in the supermarket!

You didn't know Mikado?? Really?? That's been around for ages! I knew it before I discovered Pocky :D

[identity profile] tacuma811.livejournal.com 2012-02-18 11:07 am (UTC)(link)
Well, it's not for sale here! Not in supermarkets or anywhere else! How should I know about it! ^_^"

[identity profile] lullabylily.livejournal.com 2012-02-18 11:33 am (UTC)(link)
Ah well, you'll have to come to Belgium and find a supermarket or even some vending machines have it. ^^ I'll keep going to The Netherlands for Vruchtenhagel en Efteling tickets ;-)

[identity profile] tacuma811.livejournal.com 2012-02-18 11:44 am (UTC)(link)
If I could I would! But I guess things like this just aren't popular in the Netherlands.
Vruchtenhagel, tasty! I can't remember the last time I ate it though ^_^" You go to the Efteling often?

[identity profile] lullabylily.livejournal.com 2012-02-18 12:14 pm (UTC)(link)
I love it. Have a box downstairs. I don't eat it *very* regularly but it's delicious on French baguette on a Sunday morning :D

I try to go to the Efteling once a year. I missed out in 2011 due to too much time abroad but I'm quite determined to go again soon. I wanted to go to Winter Efteling for my b-day but it didn't happen, maybe next year.. Maybe I'm just too afraid of catching cold... Now I'm trying to plan a trip but since they're open all year round, until the summer, there's always some major attraction that's closed for repairs :s I mean, can you imagine the Efteling without Fata Morgana and Villa Volta?? I can't. So I have to pick a date carefully ;-)

[identity profile] tacuma811.livejournal.com 2012-02-18 01:09 pm (UTC)(link)
It is! <3 Good thing you can keep it for a really long time!

OMG ONCE A YEAR! O_o Do you have too much money? I'v been there only 3 times in 24 years!
Winter Efteling is great. You won't catch a cold because it's cold outside, you should just go already!
I can imagine it without Villa Volta. I've never been in there, I'm sure I'll throw up once Iget out of it

[identity profile] lullabylily.livejournal.com 2012-02-18 01:17 pm (UTC)(link)
It's not *that* expensive! Unless you stay in the hotel or something. Plus it's only a good hour drive from here :D I try to go either with friends or with my younger cousins or something :D I should go for winter Efteling next year, yeah!

Villa Volta isn't that dizzying, I think :-) There's a few points you can focus on so you know for sure where's up and where's down and they're not changing ;-) It's the whole experience though, the music and the simulation. I love it :D

[identity profile] tacuma811.livejournal.com 2012-02-18 01:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I think it is very expensive! Travelling there and paying the ticket and food and all, really expensive for a sigle day.

It is for me, I can't handle most things in amusement parks. No roller coasters for me either.

[identity profile] willeke4439.livejournal.com 2012-02-18 11:01 am (UTC)(link)
Ooh, I remember those! They had them in the candy vending machine of my middle school during my first year there. After that I never saw them anywhere else though... >< In which store did you find them?

[identity profile] tacuma811.livejournal.com 2012-02-18 11:06 am (UTC)(link)
A candy store that sells stuff that supermarkets don't want to/can't sell anymore. But I've never seen it in a supermarket or anywhere else!

[identity profile] ayantiel.livejournal.com 2012-02-18 12:22 pm (UTC)(link)
That's brilliant! Where did you find it? :O

[identity profile] tacuma811.livejournal.com 2012-02-18 01:05 pm (UTC)(link)
A candy store! I go there like every two weeks, but it was the first time I found it there! O_O

[identity profile] ayantiel.livejournal.com 2012-02-18 01:44 pm (UTC)(link)
..Do you think it'll be in Nijmegen too? :3

[identity profile] tacuma811.livejournal.com 2012-02-18 01:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Not sure, if they have a candy store they might. Want me to buy a package for you? I can go there again next Friday

[identity profile] ayantiel.livejournal.com 2012-02-18 02:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh that'd be brilliant! ^_^
gotta love pocky <3

[identity profile] ayantiel.livejournal.com 2012-02-18 03:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Weeeeeeeee~! Thank you!

[identity profile] tacuma811.livejournal.com 2012-02-18 03:34 pm (UTC)(link)
You're welcome!! :D

[identity profile] bluewings-lagoo.livejournal.com 2012-02-18 04:43 pm (UTC)(link)
It looks good, not to mention it's pretty affordable!^^ Reminds me of how I haven't ate strawberry pocky in awhile -starts thinking of yummy pocky-

[identity profile] tacuma811.livejournal.com 2012-02-18 06:23 pm (UTC)(link)
It's the same as Pocky, but importing Pocky is expensive, so at a con, the only place you can buy it, such a package is about 1,50 euro or sometimes even 2 euro!

[identity profile] bluewings-lagoo.livejournal.com 2012-02-19 08:27 am (UTC)(link)
Woah that does sound expensive, not to mention difficult to get :o Here pocky is literally everywhere and it costs about 1 SGD per box (made in Thailand) or 3-4SGD (made in Japan). Which country is the pocky they import from?

[identity profile] tacuma811.livejournal.com 2012-02-19 10:07 am (UTC)(link)
This pocky is from the Netherlands, that is why it's so cheap I guess ^___^ Normally they get it from Japan

[identity profile] bluewings-lagoo.livejournal.com 2012-02-19 04:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Haha, it's usually cheaper when it's manufactured in your own country ^^ Here pocky is more commonly imported from Thailand, the Japanese versions are more rare and hard to find unless you specifically look for them in the Japanese foodstores and supermarkets here.

[identity profile] tacuma811.livejournal.com 2012-02-19 04:56 pm (UTC)(link)
It is, import is expensive!

I though we could only buy the Japanese version, at cons, but it seems there is a Dutch brand too!

[identity profile] bluewings-lagoo.livejournal.com 2012-02-19 05:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Sadly; isn't it the reason why all stuff from Japan is so marked up outside of the country? :/

I think the price of the Japanese version sold at the cons over at your side is about the same as that on my side too haha! Hehe now you enjoy dutch pocky without having to worry so much about the price and availability :> What flavours are available at this candy shop?^^

[identity profile] tacuma811.livejournal.com 2012-02-19 06:24 pm (UTC)(link)
I think so. And that stuff is hardly ever made in other countries, making it rare and more expensive.

I guess so, it's the same everywhere. But the Dutch is good too. It's chocolate, they didn't have any other. I like strawberry better

[identity profile] bluewings-lagoo.livejournal.com 2012-02-20 01:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Rofl maybe not in European countries but it sure is common here in Asia, not to mention the imitation brands xDDD Can't help but be surprised that they don't have more of their own versions of pocky, the stuff is good :o

You know you are tempting me to send a box full of strawberry pocky over right?8D
Edited 2012-02-20 13:33 (UTC)

[identity profile] tacuma811.livejournal.com 2012-02-20 04:41 pm (UTC)(link)
No, here in European countries you can't find any of that stuff, so it's all expensive, since it's rare. I wouldn't mind imitation brands at all!

Lol, I wonder if they would survive XD;

[identity profile] bluewings-lagoo.livejournal.com 2012-02-20 04:59 pm (UTC)(link)
The imitation ones (different brand and name) don't taste that nice though :/

The expiry date is usually at least 6-7 months later since they are biscuits so the only problem would be whether my country allows me to send food. If they do, expect a parcel full of yummy pocky~♥ Speaking of which, you have never tasted any other pocky flavours except for Chocolate and Strawberry right?

[identity profile] tacuma811.livejournal.com 2012-02-20 07:03 pm (UTC)(link)
They're really different?

And if they won't break on their way here XD;; You would have to wrap them well.
I had green tea ones too I think. I liked those as well :)

[identity profile] bluewings-lagoo.livejournal.com 2012-02-21 04:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Kinda; the taste is different (since they are made by different companies afterall) and some are gigantic versions of pocky xDDD

Yeah, I will have to ship them in a box to minimise breakage; hopefully it goes well ^^;
Wow that's a pretty unusual flavour; you bought from a con too?

[identity profile] tacuma811.livejournal.com 2012-02-21 06:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Gigantic ones? O_O I want!

You really are sending them to me? Yay!
I....I think I got it from Tina, she once sent me some. But I'm not sure!

[identity profile] bluewings-lagoo.livejournal.com 2012-02-22 04:47 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah but like I said, they don't taste as good as the normal sized pocky ^^; When I go down to the supermarket I will take a photo of them for you :>

Lol, you thought I was kidding?xD
Haha, I will see if I can find the green tea versions here too; I have never really bothered searching since I am already contented with Strawberry :DDD

[identity profile] mimi91chan.livejournal.com 2012-02-18 07:19 pm (UTC)(link)
What? You didn't know it? O_o You can buy it at least in MY AH store for years already! 8D

Thanks for reminding though. I might bring some packages to YaYcon ^_^

[identity profile] tacuma811.livejournal.com 2012-02-18 07:29 pm (UTC)(link)
If it's been here for so long, wth doesn't anybody ever buy it? I've never seen anybody with it at cons!!

[identity profile] mimi91chan.livejournal.com 2012-02-18 07:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Uhm well... I dunno actually... Never thought of it *hides* But I do have to admit I needed quite some time to find... ^_^; In my AH store, it's been put away in a corner >_<

[identity profile] tacuma811.livejournal.com 2012-02-18 07:56 pm (UTC)(link)
It's hardly sold, otherwise it wouldn't end up in the candy store -_-"

[identity profile] mimi91chan.livejournal.com 2012-02-18 08:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, peepz just don't know what they miss -_-'' That's it, I'll bring some over next con ^_^ Oh and maybe when I come visit in March too! I'll buy some Kruidvat tickets next Monday before work 8D

[identity profile] tacuma811.livejournal.com 2012-02-19 10:07 am (UTC)(link)
I bought a Kruidvat ticket too, so I'll be going to yay con!! ^___^ Bring some!!

[identity profile] exiles-diary.livejournal.com 2012-02-19 08:52 am (UTC)(link)
In Austria they aren't that cheap, but they are available in almost every Supermarket. At least in one flavor but often in two.

I don't like them, because I only eat special pockys like the crunchy ones or the maron flavored ones. But it's good you found them. XD 60ct is a very good price.

(Sorry for not commenting so often, but I have read all the chapters of your Nightclub-fic ^.~ it's awsome)

[identity profile] tacuma811.livejournal.com 2012-02-19 10:06 am (UTC)(link)
You have strawberry flavor too? What does it cost?

I bought one package to try them, but I want it to be something special, not something you eat every day.

That's fine, I'm glad you read and enjoyed it!
